What is Alprazolam and Why is it So Widely Used?
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine and it is used for anxiety relief in the UK and it is one of most trusted anti-anxiety medications and sleeping pills out there. Just like most benzodiazepines, this also works by calming the excessive brain activity. It was developed at the Upjohn Company (now known as Pfizer) by Dr. Jackson B. Hester Jr. in the late 1960s. But it got approved for treating anxiety and panic disorders by the FDA only in 1981. It became very popular and overtime gained approval in many countries including the UK.
